Creating Space (Painting) with David Bannister. Sat 26th April 2025

£80 (Students will need to bring some materials)

The illusion of space and depth in representational paintings can be mystifying and challenging, but is very important as without this element paintings are flat, boring and lifeless. In this workshop, we will explore six ways to create space and depth to create the illusion of reality to use in your next painting.

Materials required:
 Sketchbook or loose paper- heavyweight paper preferred.
 Watercolors or acrylic paints.
 A selection of brushes- round and square head brush- small to medium sized.
Hair, artificial hair and soft bristle acceptable.
 Pencils and pens.
 Drawing board.
 A desktop easel would be beneficial.

Materials provided:
 An assortment of papers.
 Masking tape.
 A variety of paints and brushes will be available to students if required. It is however recommended that students bring their own if possible.
 Charcoal and erasers.
 Printed course notes.
