An Introduction to making with clay

Learn the age old art of hand-building pots and vessels with pinch, coil and slab methods and basic decoration techniques. You will produce 3 vessels or pots in various hand building styles. Workshops will give the participant a chance to experiment and play with the clay and have at least 3 finished products at the end of the day in the construction method of their own choice.

You will also learn some basic mark making skills on clay. A Relaxed, “ hands on” teaching style with demo’s and guidance throughout the day.

The morning session will concentrate on the basics of construction. In the afternoon you will work with leather-hard clay and focus on the decoration.

The course is great for beginners and those looking to extend their skills with clay.
