First petals then claws – revered and feared – owls have appeared in many guises over the millennia: carried as an amulet in ancient times to ward of ‘the evil eye’ and in folklore as a guard against frenzy and unreason.
In Alan Garner’s book The Owl Service and in the ancient Welsh stories in the Mabinogion owls are simply cursed.
For me the owl’s presence is a sign of nature in balance and a return to natural order. She is also the moonlit bird of my dreams.
Join me for this one day workshop to create your own owl in porcelain paper clay. These will then be taken and fired and returned to the gallery for collection.
All materials provided.
