Ladysmock is a brand new collaborative project telling the tale of local world famous Shropshire authoress Mary Webb.
Using the mediums of story, music, song and poetry; the tale of the humble modest girl, Gladys Mary Meredith, unfolds. It is the tale of how she became the much celebrated local authoress Mary Webb. It tells how her work written in, Pontesbury, Bayston Hill and Meole Brace and London, became thrust upon the world stage.
Mary who died aged only 47 of a rare condition left behind her a veritable library of novels, pose and poems. Stories like Precious Bane and Gone to Earth both turned to films both catapulted Mary into fame that she would have been happy not had achieved at all.
Ladysmock is a collaboration between genres and juxta-poses new work and original Mary Webb’s words interwoven into a script by International Playwright Owen Lewis, Poet & Lyricist Rowan Bartram and the beautiful Folk Musical Directorship of Phoebe Rees.
It is hoped to tour Ladysmock around the county initially with a goal to take it further afield in the near future.
Written entirely in 2018 this is a must see hot ticket show which promises to be a delightful evening of theatre.
