Painting your Dog’s Portrait in Acrylic on Canvas with Myfanwy Powell

Starting: Saturday 3rd– Sunday 4th August 2019

Cost: £80 to include both days

Local artist Myfanwy Powell specialises in equine and canine portraits using acrylic or oil paint. She is a member of the Society of Equestrian Artists and has been successfully selling commissions for 6 years. Myfanwy is currently studying her Masters degree in Fine Art at Aberystwyth University whilst expanding her own business.

This is an exciting new course which covers scaling, drawing, painting and mark making techniques in order to capture your special pet on canvas. Students will mature their painting practice, develop their observational skills and achieve a painted background that compliments their pet’s portrait.

Equipment

Equipment will not be provided so students are expected to bring:

  • An assortment of brushes and sponges
  • An assortment of acrylic paints
  • 1 A3 Canvas
  • 2 pots for water
  • Paint palette
  • Pencils and/or pens, rubber, sharpener and 30cm ruler
  • A clear, sharp image of your dog’s portrait printed full on A3 paper (can be A4 if you’re unable to print at this size)

Tracing paper will be provided.

Class is for 6-8 people.
