Painterly Woodcuts Workshop with Sally-Ann Davies

Workshop Purpose – to assist artists to learn the process of painterly woodcut printing. Students will learn the painting process of how to apply the ink and the carving techniques to create unique edition of coloured woodcut prints
Sally- Ann Davies, “I have a passion for printmaking and specialise in a combination of printmaking techniques. I will share the practical printing techniques that I find work best in my style of printmaking. I will demonstrate and lead you step by step in how I create my original painterly woodcuts. A printing press will be used during the workshop, however, I will also show you how to create these prints without a press”
‘I have a B A Hons in Fine Art from Liverpool John Moore’s University and have been teaching Art in England and New Zealand for the last 20 years. As well as being a teacher I regularly exhibit and sell my own work throughout New Zealand and in the UK.
I look forward to seeing you on my woodcut printing workshop. While I am in the UK for a short visit and hope you enjoy exploring the fabulous world of printmaking with me.
Equipment – I will provide printing paper, wood, inks and printing press. If you have your own carving tools, old paint brushes and brayers that will be helpful. I will have some available to borrow.
