Phillip Henry will celebrate the release of his long awaited solo album, Steelworks: Slide Guitar Solos, in Autumn 2018 with a national tour.
As a virtuoso musician, Henry has explored a wide range of cultures and playing styles, from his studies in Calcutta under master Indian classical slide guitarist Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya, to his transposition of traditional English tunes onto the unusual context of the dobro. His collaborations with fellow musicians such as Peter Knight (Steeleye Span), Steve Knightley (Show of Hands), and Hannah Martin (Edgelarks), have led to the evolution of a unique instrumental style, which, coupled with his great technical facility, has wowed audiences around the world.

Phillip’s first solo record for eight years reveals the thousand concerts across four continents he has played in the intervening time; a fusion of global styles deeply infused with his British folk roots, and brought together with a considered beauty all his own.

Henry is preparing to take the album on the road with a very special launch tour. Phillip’s performance promises to be wide ranging; from spectacular Dobro flourishes to mellow Weissenborn depths; to the rare Indian Chatturangui (a 22-string guitar from the sub-continent). His signature beat box harmonica, a great favourite with audiences, is sure to make an appearance alongside his extensive guitar repertoire.

‘Steelworks: Slide Guitar Solos’ runs from 31st October to 18th November 2018
